Author Guidelines

Alfikr: Journal of Islamic Studies welcomes original research articles and conceptual papers in the field of Islamic Studies that have not been published elsewhere. Authors are required to follow the submission guidelines below:

1. Types of Manuscripts

Submitted manuscripts may include:

  • Research Articles related to the focus and scope of the journal.

  • Conceptual or Theoretical Papers that contribute to the development of Islamic Studies.

2. Language and Length

  • Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian.

  • The length of the manuscript should be between 5,000 – 8,000 words, including references.

3. Manuscript Format

  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word, on A4 paper size, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.

  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font size, 1.5 spacing, and justified alignment.

  • Each new paragraph should be indented by 1 cm.

4. Article Structure

a. For Research Articles:

  1. Title: concise and informative (maximum 14 words).

  2. Author(s) Name and Affiliation: include active email address.

  3. Abstract: maximum 250 words summarizing purpose, methods, and main findings, followed by 5–7 keywords.

  4. Introduction: background, research problem, objectives, and significance.

  5. Research Method: explain approach, data sources, and analysis techniques.

  6. Results and Discussion: present findings and analytical discussion.

  7. Conclusion and Suggestions: summarize key points and implications.

  8. References: include only cited works.

b. For Conceptual or Theoretical Papers:

  1. Title

  2. Author(s) and Affiliation

  3. Abstract and Keywords

  4. Introduction

  5. Main Discussion

  6. Conclusion

  7. References

5. Citation and References

  • Citations and references must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition style.

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

6. Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript:

  • Is an original work and has not been previously published.

  • Is not under consideration by another journal.

  • Properly cites all sources and avoids plagiarism.

7. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two reviewers. The final decision of acceptance is based on the article’s academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Articles published in this journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing others to use, share, and reproduce the work with proper attribution.
